How to use the online records

This is the most up to date source of the Redmon Cycling Club records.

These records go back to the founding of the Redmon Cycling Club in 1935, although some of the older details are not complete, as you can imagine it’s a pretty difficult task to compile!

So if anyone notices a ‘typo’ - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Records are grouped by category:
a) type of cycle
b) category of rider, and
c) distance.
Search the records by selecting the type of cycle from the list on the left and then category from the menu at the top. Hopefully, we have captured all of the instances that the records have been broken. The club member’s name, date, time and various other details are listed, depending on the type of record..

Latest Record Broken

Some interesting facts

We’ve had three club records broken recently:

* Tom Woodland broke the 10 Vets std record at the Sotonia Middlemarkers with +8:06 in Jun-07

* Eddie Allen set a new junior record (at age 14) for 25 miles with 1:17:30 in Aug-07

* Mick Deen shattered the 10 record by 37s with 20:19 in Sept-06

All of the ladies scratch records are held by J Kirkham. Who holds the most men’s records? Alec Wingrave and D Worsfold tie for this honour. Alec Wingrave with Trike vets records for 10miles, 25 miles and 50 miles, Trike on age standard records for 10 and 25 miles and Trike Rosehill to Brighton. And D Worsfold with Trike 10, 25, 30, 50 and 100 miles as well as the 100 mile senior bike record.

What challenges are left ?

So ...

What Challenges are left?

Well, we don’t expect any of the Rosehill to Brighton records to be broken now - don’t think that the roads enable it any longer,

However . . .

Fancy a 24 hour challenge? The mens 24 hour record has remained the same since 1955! F Wright managed 448 miles 596 yards

What about the tandem trike? There are no records for 10 miles, 100 miles or 12 and 24 hours?

Our Thanks to

We must ensure that they are kept up to date - so if you break a record it is upto you to notify us - we can’t watch the press all the time! Please notify the Racing Secretary (or any member of the committee) of any corrections and new records. Note that club records can only be held by a first claim member.

These records were originally compiled by Alec Wingrave, typed by Chris Robey and checked by Jim Walsh and Jon Frost and published for Redmon members in March 2004.

Our thanks to Alec, Chris, Jim and Jon for their hard work.
