About

We’re keen cyclists!

The Redmon are all enthusiastic cyclists, taking part in social cycling, sportives and competitions. We organise and run some of the best club racing in the area, on Thursday evenings throughout the summer, along with three open events including a very special two-up – the Grand Prix des Gentlemen.

Social Rides
Our social rides are on Saturday during the ‘off season’ with different starting at Epsom, Dorking and Newlands Corner. They are ‘easy’ rides of around 40 miles, and not hilly training events, generally with a coffee stop for refreshments and a chat. The faster boys go out on Sunday with the Club Captain leading – so expect something a little more strenuous! These rides will be a little further, and at a faster pace to get you ready for the coming racing season.

Open Events
We run open time trials at the distances of 10 miles (May) and 25 miles (TBC), along with a special two-up event, The Grand Prix des Gentlemen (August this year). See the open events page for more information.

Club Events
We run evening time trials at three distances starting in May through the summer to the end of August. We meet at the car park at the top of Inholms Lane in North Holmwood. See map for directions. Entry will be on the line – sign on – get your number and go. One of these events, usually early in August, is used to stage our club 10 mile championship. These events have been authorised for 1/2 minute start intervals. See the racing calendar for more details.

Track Competition
We hold an annual track day at Herne Hill in the summer. We hire the track for a few sessions to contest our track competition, for one tough member to become the club track champion.

Inter Club TT
We also hold an annual inter club event – a 25 mile time trial – against the Kingston Phoenix in the summer. This is a great event, and the Redmon have been the successful team for the past few years.

Sportives
Most of our riding members take part in the very popular organised sportives across the country and even overseas. For the past few seasons we have ridden locations as far apart as in Scotland, Yorkshire, the Midlands, Devon and even France
